I love providing opportunities to go to places and events in the Northland, to learn, and build community. These trips also support the talent, creative, historic preservation, and educational opportunities of the Northland.  I hope to meet you on upcoming trips.

The trips are organized and lead by Wendy Grethen.

ABOUT WENDY

Wendy has organized numerous events in Duluth ranging from over 50 local art & gift fairs to over 15 Dulcimer music festivals to dozens of community ed classes, some with a travel emphasis. She also taught college biology for about 15 years and put together many field trips.  She enjoys presenting to groups on travel (New Zealand, volunteering in Nepal), local history (Early Days of the West End, Early Days of Lakeside, Early Days of Minnesota Point, and is currently researching Gary New Duluth's early days), and to provide music on the hammered and mountain dulcimers. Wendy has greatly enjoyed traveling and has been to all 50 states and done a fair amount of travel abroad.  She believes travel enriches our lives.

Wendy branched into leading trips in the Northland to arts, music, history and nature places and events in 2016.   These Northland trips  build community, let people have positive experiences relating to arts, music, history and nature events and places in the Northland.
Over 33 trips have been held and since covid (after a year and a half with no trips) Wendy expanded into very local trips to farms where we caravaned to the locations (people drove separately).

Minnesota State Fair (3X), Bayfield Apple Fest (2X), Rittenhouse (2X), Chanhassen Theater (2X), Guthrie Theater, Orpheum Theater,  Stone Lake Cranberry Festival, Charles Lindburgh Boyhood Home, Renaissance Fair, Big Top Chatauqua, Bemidji Community Theater, Sunset with Sandhill Cranes, Mississippi River sightseeing afternoon cruise, and more.
All of these trips brought people to experience festival, amazing performing talents, history, and fun.

Additional trips were offered but some did not have enough interest so were canceled.  The challenge is always to find enough people (bus prices have gone up!) to go on a given trip.

I am an ideas person.   I have many more ideas. I want to hear your ideas too.  Please remember that my goal is supporting arts, music, nature and history events and places so I would unlikely organize a trip to a sports game, casino, or Mall of America.

THANK YOU to those who have attended the trips!  I appreciate it.

THE TRIPS ARE "ECO"   -  fewer cars on the road, like carpooling but we are 'bus-pooling"
Save wear and tear on your vehicle
You don't need to mess with parking, directions, filling up with gas, etc.
People have come solo or with friends or family.

Will overnight trips be added in 2024?
